Who we are

Value added where the fruit is grown

Ropen Coffee & Fine Foods Limited is a family-owned Kenyan company. We farm and process our own crop rather than selling it on and hoping for the best.

Our winery turns overripe bananas , a year-round crop with famously high post-harvest losses , into Banny’s Dry Banana Wine. Our coffee farm at Njagũ, rehabilitated since 2023, grows SL28, SL34 and Ruiru 11 between 1,550 and 1,725 metres and washes and dries the cherry on site.

Why it matters

Waste on one side, a market on the other

Nothing wasted

Overripe fruit becomes wine; banana stems become fibre, bags and packaging at Bansoko Centre. The whole plant is used.

Traceable to source

Single-origin coffee traceable to the farm that grew it, and a batch reference printed on every bottle of Banny’s.

Proceeds that go back

Part of our coffee proceeds supports aged women welfare programmes in the communities where these farms were established.
